The diagnosis was made following a clinical assessment in the Indian dressing room during the innings break by BCCI medical staff
Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the remainder of India’s T20I series against Australia after suffering a concussion in the tourists’ 11-run win in Canberra.
The left-arm spinner edged a ball from Mitchell Starc onto his helmet in the final over of India’s innings but batted on, leading to a heated discussion between Australia head coach Justin Langer and match referee David Boon when Jadeja, who made 44 and also appeared to injure his hamstring, was subsequently replaced by Yuzvendra Chahal for the second half of the match.
Chahal then took three wickets and claimed the man of the match award for Virat Kohli’s side.
The diagnosis was made following an assessment in the Indian dressing room during the innings break by BCCI medical staff.
Jadeja remains under observation and will be taken for further scans if required based on the assessment on Saturday.
Shardul Thakur, a member of India’s ODI squad, has replaced Jadeja in the squad for the remaining games.
Kohli described Jadeja as “a bit dizzy” when speaking following his team’s win.
