JOSH STACEY: Following WV Raman's time in charge, the 42-year-old is back for a second spell at the helm
Ramesh Powar has been re-appointed the head coach of the India Women’s team.
The 42-year-old replaces WV Raman, whose contract expired last October but was asked to stay on for the one-day and T20 internationals against South Africa.
Powar re-joins the side after a short but successful stint in 2018, helping guide them to the T20 World Cup semi-final, securing 14 straight 20-over victories on the way.
His contract with the team was not renewed due to a public dispute with talismanic skipper Mithali Raj.
Powar played two Tests and 31 one-day internationals for India in the 2000s before being dropped in 2007 and retiring from all cricket in 2015.
He most recently led Mumbai men’s team to the 2021 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
India are scheduled to face England this summer in a stand-alone Test followed by three ODIS and a trio of T20s across June and July.
