"He is out of the first game at least as the ECB is conducting scans to determine his fitness status" an IPL source was quoted as saying by PTI. "He should be available from the second game onwards."
Livingstone spent a week in Dubai with Lancashire during their pre-season tour. He was seen batting in the indoor nets at Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Livingstone was a key player for the Kings last season, as he blasted 437 runs in 14 innings with an average of 36.41, striking at 182.08.
Punjab will also be without Kagiso Rabada for their first game of the campaign.
