Gary Kirsten departed after guiding the side through a winless 2022 campaign. Hussey arrives having been part of England's backroom team during their successful T20 World Cup campaign
Welsh Fire men have confirmed former Australia batter Mike Hussey as their new head coach for The Hundred.
As reported by The Cricketer in January, the 47-year-old has been enlisted to replace Gary Kirsten following two disastrous campaigns in charge.
Fire went through the 2022 season with a 100 per cent losing record, having finished seventh out of eight the previous year.
Since calling time on his illustrious playing career, Hussey has occupied roles with Sydney Thunder, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
"I'm really looking forward to getting started at Welsh Fire and being part of The Hundred," said Hussey, who played 79 Tests, 185 one-day internationals and 38 T20Is for Australia.

"From a distance, it looks a fantastic competition to be involved in, one that's attracting big crowds and getting lots of kids interested in the game.
"For my part, hopefully, I can get help get things moving in the right direction on the pitch in Cardiff and give all of those fans who’ve been coming to watch something to really get excited about."
Cricket manager Mark Wallace added: "We're thrilled to be able to appoint someone of the calibre of Mike.
"There are few better people around the world with the relevant expertise and knowledge of white-ball cricket to help take us forward.
"It's really exciting to have him on board, and we look forward to working together to hopefully bring some on-field success to the team and our fans."
