Middlesex wicketkeeper Robbie White has signed a new contract with the county.

The 24-year-old, who fell one run short of a maiden first-class century in a Bob Willis Trophy draw with Kent, will now remain at the club until at least the end of the 2022 season.

A product of Middlesex’s youth system since the age of ten, he made his second team debut as a 17-year-old and has since made 24 appearances for the club’s first team.

White said: “I am delighted to have extended my contract with Middlesex - a club I have been with since I was ten years old and love playing for. I look forward to helping the team push for more success in the coming years”.

Middlesex head coach Stuart Law added: “Robbie has earned his contract extension through his performances since being added to the starting line-up this season.

“He also provides great back up to John Simpson in the keeping department. It’s great to have him with us for the coming seasons.

“His work ethic and positivity around the group is infectious and he is a highly regarded member of our squad. A product of our academy which means we hang on to another home-grown product that has come through the Middlesex system.”

Last season, he spent some time on loan at Essex after Adam Wheater suffered a hand injury.

News of White’s extension follows the announcement last week that teenage batsman Josh de Caires – son of Michael Atherton – had signed a three-year rookie contract with the club, which in turn came on the back of Tom Lace’s departure to Gloucestershire.
