Squads for the men's Hundred have been completed following the wildcard draw.

Each of the eight sides were permitted to make one late domestic addition to their group in the £28,000 price bracket.

The order was pre-determined during a separate draw and the outcome has finally been revealed.

Northern Superchargers won the opportunity to select first and went for Durham's bowling allrounder Ben Raine, who has taken 64 wickets in 76 T20s.

"There were a few nerves flying around leading up to this because I think every cricketer in the country wanted to be in The Hundred. I thought I’d had a decent Vitality Blast with the ball so I was hopeful of getting a spot.

"Looking through our team there will be a real Northern feel to it which will be nice. There’s a lot of Durham lads that I’ve played with and Yorkshire lads I’ve played against so there will be a bit of familiarity.

Meanwhile, Oval Invincibles pitted for keeper-batter Jordan Cox from Kent, while Essex seamer Sam Cook was picked up by Trent Rockets.

"We’ve got some massive names in our squad like Rashid Khan and Joe Root and it will be great playing with them," said Cook. "It’s going to be fun and I’m looking forward to taking some wickets to help us get to the business end of the competition."

The inspiring tale of left-arm wrist spinner Jake Lintott continues after he was signed up by Southern Brave.

Leus du Plooy is rewarded for his Blast form with a return to Welsh Fire

Kent's Fred Klaassen has joined Manchester Originals and Middlesex's 19-year-old Blake Cullen will play at Lord's with London Spirit.

Leus du Plooy, the Derbyshire local batter, returns to Welsh Fire after not being retained from 2020 and Birmingham Phoenix made Dillon Pennington of Worcestershire the final selection.

News of the wildcards comes on a day where the withdrawal of 13 players, and confirmation of their replacements, was announced.

The men's competition kick-offs on July 22, 24 hours after the curtain comes down on the women's version, with Oval Invincibles v Manchester Originals.
