Marcus Harris committed to Melbourne Renegades for the 2022/23 Big Bash after signing a one-year deal with the club.

The 30-year-old, who previously represented Perth Scorchers, has scored 970 runs at a strike rate of 122.47 in 48 Big Bash outings.

He joined the Renegades ahead of BBL06 and has gone on to score 737 runs in 34 matches. In his most productive season (2017/18), he scored 324 runs (two half-centuries) and finished seventh in the golden bat standings.

Due to international commitments, Harris, who has 14 Test caps, hasn't featured in the Big Bash since January 2020.

Harris said: "It's great to be locked in with the Renegades again this season. While I haven't been able to play BBL over the last couple of seasons, I've followed the team closely and I really want to be part of a successful season with this group.

"I'm looking forward to playing in front of our Renegades fans again and trying to win our second BBL championship."

General manager, James Rosengarten, added: "Marcus is a quality player and we're pleased to have him recommit to our club for BBL12.

"He adds to the strength of our batting group, which boasts a core group of experienced players and some exciting young talent on the rise. We look forward to having him back in red this summer, around any international duties."

Melbourne Renegades have one local spot left to fill in their squad ahead of their tournament opener against Brisbane Heat on December 15. Akeal Hosein, Ruwantha Kellapotha, Liam Livingstone, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have joined the club as overseas signings.
