The Cricketer’s digital team have won the Outstanding Online Coverage of Domestic Cricket prize at the ECB Domestic Cricket Journalism Awards for 2024, with judges praising our commitment to both the men's and women's game in the UK.

The honour has been won by our team every year since 2018, and comes as they gear up, once again, to provide unrivalled on-the-ground coverage of all 18 counties as we start the new season.

Nick Howson, digital editor at The Cricketer pictured above with The Blaze's Lucy Higham, said: "We are pleased to have been recognised yet again for our commitment to domestic cricket, and this honour is just reward for our talented team who work tirelessly to set the agenda and cover both men’s and women’s domestic cricket in the way we believes it deserves to be covered.

"We're now looking forward to providing our readers with even more quality news, analysis and opinion every day throughout what promises to be a great summer of cricket in England."

In making their decision, the judging panel said: "Unapologetically passionate about so many issues across the county game, The Cricketer's reporting of otherwise under-represented areas of cricket caught the eye.

"Such commitment to diversity is covered with great depth and an energy belying how prolific they are across the board with their newsy features and interviews."

"Cricket has a rich history of storytelling, and we are indebted to those people in the media who are able to bring those stories to life," Richard Thompson, ECB chair, added.

"This year's awards reflect the many and varied ways of telling those stories, whether it is through the commentary of a Rothesay County Championship match or content creation for social media audiences. There are so many ways to reach more and more people and to share our love for the game, and I congratulate all the winners of the awards."

Meanwhile, the Christopher Martin-Jenkins Young Journalist of the Year, a prize previously won by The Cricketer's Nick Friend, was awarded to Evie Ashton.

Cameron Ponsonby, presenter of The Cricketer's County Conversation podcast - which is returning for a second season - was highly commended in the same category.

As we move into the start of the new English season, The Cricketer remains committed to having reporters on the ground at every round of county fixtures this summer – and to covering all 18 teams, all year round.
