Leicestershire's head bowling coach Matt Mason will leave the club at the end of the season, the county have announced.

The former Worcestershire head coach is set to return to his native Australia to take up a new role with Western Australia and Perth Scorchers.

The 45-year-old joined the Foxes ahead of the 2018 season and has since worked as head of the bowling unit at the Fischer County Ground for nearly two seasons.

Mason said: "It is with sadness that I am leaving Leicestershire after two great seasons here. In a short space of time I have been lucky enough to build close relationships with some talented cricketers and more importantly great people, and I wish all of them the very best in their futures.

"I will certainly leave an even better coach for my experiences here. Leicestershire is a fantastic club with an exciting future, and I look forward to watching its progress in the coming seasons.

"There is so much to get excited about at Grace Road and I look forward to now joining you all as a Foxes fan."

Leicestershire chief executive Karen Rothery added: "We are very sorry to be losing Matt from the coaching staff here at the Fischer County Ground.

"He has done a tremendous job during his two-year spell here, but we understand that the role he has been offered is one that he could not turn down."
