Shine's appointment follows 14 years as the ECB's lead fast bowling coach and will see him reunite with former national boss Peter Moores
After 14 years at the ECB, Kevin Shine has been announced as Nottinghamshire's new assistant coach.
Shine, 50, had previously served as England's lead fast bowling coach since joining the national setup in 2006 from Somerset, where he had previously held the role of head coach.
The ECB announced Shine's departure earlier this month, and this week also confirmed his spin bowling counterpart Peter Such is also to leave following the appointment of Chris Silverwood to the senior men's team head job.
Shine will work alongside the county's head coach Peter Moores, who joined Nottinghamshire after holding Silverwood's role on two separate occasions between 2007 and 2015.
"When the opportunity came up it was a no brainer for me," Shine commented.
"I'm really looking forward to working with Peter Moores again. He is one of the best coaches in the game and a person I have huge respect for.
"I love coaching, so to be able to support and work with coaches of the calibre of Mooresy, Paul Franks, Ant Botha, Andy Pick and Matt Wood – who I know from working at Somerset – is amazing.
"I have spent the last 14 years trying to develop international cricketers and to put a bit of what I have learnt back into county cricket is really exciting."

Nottinghamshire will be keen for a swift turnaround in fortunes after a winless season of County Championship cricket saw their relegation from Division One with two games to spare.
Shine will join head coach Moores with a refreshed squad for the county's 2020 campaign, with this winter seeing academy prospects Sol Budinger, Ben Compton and Joey Evison given their first professional contracts.
Seamers Luke Wood and England under-19 player Nick Kimber have already departed to Lancashire and Surrey respectively, while last week saw confirmation that allrounder Paul Coughlin will return to Durham after two injury-marred seasons at Trent Bridge restricted him to just 12 first-team appearances.
"On the back of last season, we know we've got to get better," Moores said.
"Our coaching is part of that and – with Kevin becoming available – we saw an opportunity to shake things up in a way we believe will help us improve.
"He's coming from 14 years in an elite environment with England, where he's worked within various coaching regimes and with a whole host of different players.
"His track record is there for all to see in the current crop of international bowlers available to England, and it’s fantastic that we can now tap into that experience at Notts."
Shine will be reunited with former ECB colleague Peter Moores in his new role
Upon the announcement, the county has also revealed that Moores' previous assistant Andy Pick will move across to a scouting-focused role.
Moores added: "Equally exciting is the opportunity for our young cricketers to work with a coach of the calibre of Andy Pick.
"Andy will have a specific focus on developing our bowling talent, whilst also being perfectly placed to help inform our recruitment.
"The depth of his experience across senior and youth levels is second to none, so it feels like a real step forward for us."
