Kedhar Jadhav replaces injured David Willey at RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed former India batter Kedhar Jadhav for the remainder of their Indian Premier League campaign.

The 38-year-old had been without a franchise but replaces David Willey, who has been ruled out with a fractured toe and an adductor strain.

Willey was hit on the toe while batting against Kolkata Knight Riders and had since returned to England.

Jadhav previously played for RCB among his five IPL franchises but wasn't involved in 2022 and didn't get a bid at this year's auction.

He is seven short of 100 IPL appearances and adds versatility to an RCB unit that has been hit by injuries this year. As well as being a hard-hitting batter, he bowls low-arm off-spin and even kept wicket in the past.

Willey is the third Englishman to leave Bangalore injured, having seen Reece Topley also depart early with a shoulder dislocation, while Will Jacks was ruled out before arriving. Batter Rajat Patidar is also absent through injury.

For Northamptonshire, Willey's injury comes at an inopportune moment, ahead of the start of the T20 Blast later this month. He re-signed for his former county over the winter but is yet to feature for them, having been on RCB duty.
