John Simpson pens two-year contract extension with Middlesex

Middlesex have announced that wicketkeeper batsman John Simpson has agreed a new deal with the club.

The 30-year-old, who has 5,907 first-class runs to his name, has signed a new contract which will see him remain with Middlesex until the end of the 2021 season.

Head coach Stuart Law said: “It is great news that we have extended John Simpson’s contract.

“He has been an important member of Middlesex Cricket for the last 10 years, and while 30 years old, has plenty more to give to the county.

“With a fresh approach and new ideas from within the dressing room, I’m sure Simmo is ready to challenge himself further to improve his game and to ensure that Middlesex have not only a great season but build a platform of success for many years to come.

“His experience and talent will be vital to ensuring the teams’ success moving forward.”

Simpson added: “I am very pleased to have extended my contract with Middlesex into what will be my eleventh and twelfth seasons at the club.

“There is a real sense of excitement around the club ahead of the new season and we can’t wait to get going.”
