Gloucestershire have tied batsman and T20 captain Jack Taylor down to a new one-year contract extension.

The 28-year-old was already signed up until the end of next season, but will now remain in Bristol until 2022.

Taylor, older brother of seamer Matt, has played a role in Gloucestershire securing a first T20 Finals Day appearance since 2007, scoring 130 runs in nine innings.

Since his debut in 2010, he has scored 5,458 runs across all formats while taking 130 wickets.

He joins Ian Cockbain in recently committing his immediate future to the club.

"I am thrilled to extend my stay here," he said. "Gloucestershire is my home club and it’s a huge part of my life.

"I’ve also loved the opportunity to captain in this year’s Vitality Blast. I’m looking forward to what this team can achieve over the next couple of years."

Head coach Richard Dawson added: "It’s fantastic news that Jack has extended his stay at Gloucestershire. He’s been an important part of the changing room for a number of seasons and has shown solid leadership skills this season captaining the T20 side."
