What's the match?

Lucknow Super Giants take on Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 Indian Premier League.

When is it taking place?

The match is scheduled to start at 3.30pm local time (11am BST) on Wednesday, May 3.

Where is the match being played?

The match will be held at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

Who's got form?

Both teams have been plagued with inconsistency recently; Lucknow Super Giants lost their last game to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings lost theirs to Punjab Kings. The Super Kings also lost to Rajasthan Royals too recently so will be aiming to revive their fortunes.

In the reverse fixture, Chennai Super Kings won by 12 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad starred with 57 off 31 balls and Devon Conway with 47 off 29. With the ball, Moeen Ali took 4 for 26. They will be hoping that those players can repeat this; however, home advantage may play a part for Lucknow.

What's the team news?

KL Rahul suffered an injury in their last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Jaydev Unadkat is also injured.

As for Chennai Super Kings, Ben Stokes’s familiar injury problems have returned and its unclear whether he will return for this match. Given Stokes is only there for a short period due to his captaincy duties, he needs to play soon.

What's the key matchup?

Ajinkya Rahane has starred for the Chennai Super Kings so the Giants will view him as a priority wicket. If Mark Wood plays, maybe his hostile place will rough Rahane up. Devon Conway didn’t play in their last game but his 71 not out off 29 balls shows that he can perform on this stage.

Krunal Pandya has done well so far for the Giants as has Kyle Mayers. It promises to be an exciting fixture.
