The England pace bowler and death specialist pulled up after the third delivery of the 14th over and left the field without completing his over
England have suffered an injury scare in their fourth match of the 2021 T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka after Tymal Mills left the field holding his right quad.
He will undergo a scan to assess the injury in the next 48 hours.
The 29-year-old, whose career has been plagued by serious back injuries, was halfway through bowling his second over when he pulled up and reached for his quad.
Mills then aborted his run-up for his fourth legal delivery of the over and left the field. Chris Woakes bowled the final three balls, conceding just two runs to take the total for the over to 14. Substitute Sam Billings took Mills’ place in the field, with the Sussex bowler not returning to for the remainder of the match.
The left-armer’s absence would be a huge blow for England, with Mills bowling three of the final six overs against both Australia and Bangladesh and picking up seven wickets in the tournament.
England's next match is scheduled for Saturday, November 6, when they face South Africa in Sharjah in their final match of the Super 12s.
