Imad Wasim has joined Melbourne Renegades for the majority of their Big Bash campaign.
The Pakistan allrounder will be available from December 26, joining a roster of overseas player which already includes Rilee Rossouw, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad and Imran Tahir.
Wasim’s signing comes on the back of his successful leadership of Karachi Kings, who won the Pakistan Super League last month. In October, he was also part of Nottinghamshire’s T20 Blast victory.
“Imad is one of the best T20 players in the world with his ability to impact games with the ball and to finish the innings with the bat,” said head coach Michael Klinger.
Jonny Bairstow withdraws from Melbourne Stars stint, with Andre Fletcher called in as replacement
“He’s an experienced player with recent title success, he’s capable of bowling in the powerplay and he’ll strengthen our middle order batting.
“Given the current landscape, we’ve had to be flexible with our international players. We’ll have Rilee Rossouw available for the whole season while our other international players will feature at different points throughout the tournament.
“It’s a really talented group of international players and they’ll provide us with some great flexibility throughout the season.”
Fifteen-year-old left-arm wrist-spinner Ahmad will play in the opening weeks of the season, ahead of veteran leg-spinner Tahir’s arrival after Christmas.
