Scotland batsman George Munsey has joined Hampshire for their T20 Blast campaign.

The 27-year-old batsman has forged a reputation for himself as one of the international game’s most aggressive openers, with his propensity to reverse-sweep and switch-hit becoming a calling card of sorts.

He will join the squad later this week and will be available for the entire competition.

“We’re pleased to have George with us for this summer’s Vitality Blast and he’ll add further depth and fire-power to our top-order for that competition,” said the club’s director of cricket, Giles White.

“He’s had good success with Scotland at international level and has been an important part of their white-ball sides – he’s a good fit for us.”

He was Scotland’s top run-scorer during their T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2019, making 234 runs at an average of 29.25 and a strike rate of 141.81.
