Gloucestershire allrounder Graeme van Buuren has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2021 season.

The South African left-arm spinner and middle order batsman joined the county in 2016, becoming a regular across all formats since.

He is currently the club’s top run-scorer in this year’s Bob Willis Trophy, with 222 at an average of 31.71.

On signing his new deal, he said: “I’m very privileged and thankful for the opportunity to be at this awesome club. I’m grateful to have met so many fantastic people. I’m looking forward to getting my head down, getting out there and fighting for another year.”

“I’ll be looking to enjoy it, not put massive amounts of pressure on myself, that’s what I think has been working well for me, being so at ease and so relaxed in all phases of life.

“My emotions are in check, I’m not taking cricket issues home, and staying very level. I’m feeling the best I’ve felt in my whole career.”

With James Bracey absent on England duty, van Buuren has batted at No.3 in this year’s red-ball competition for the first time since arriving at the county.

He made 60 in the first innings of the season against Worcestershire and followed that up with a score of 72 in the next match against Warwickshire.
