Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed George Garton for the remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League.

The 24-year-old seamer is the franchise’s final overseas signing, joining the likes of AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Kyle Jamieson, and Dan Christian in RCB's star-studded squad. Sri Lankan duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera, and Singapore international Tim David were announced as replacement signings earlier this month.

Garton, who plies his trade for Sussex, has taken 44 wickets in 38 T20 appearances to date, 34 of which have come in the T20 Blast.

He also impressed for Southern Brave in The Hundred, taking 10 wickets as his side lifted the trophy.

In June, the pace bowler was called up to England’s ODI squad to face Sri Lanka. He is yet to make his international debut in any format.

The IPL, which was suspended on May 4 due to rising Covid-19 cases in both the tournament’s bio-secure bubble and India itself, is due to restart on September 19 in the UAE.

RCB are currently third in the table, lying just two points behind first-placed Delhi Capitals with seven games remaining.
