Joe Root's side will play two behind-closed-doors Tests in Galle in the New Year following the series postponement in March
England will tour Sri Lanka for two Tests in January 2021, the ECB have been confirmed.
The rescheduled matches come after the series last March was postponed as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold.
Both Tests will be played behind-closed-doors in Galle between 14-18 and 22-26 January.
The series makes up part of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship.
Players and backroom staff will take a chartered flight to Hambantota on January 2 and will be initially based at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
Following the Tests, they will depart Sri Lanka on January 27.
A Test series against India in February remains in the pipeline but dates and venues are yet to be confirmed.

Good news that some cricket is going ahead for England, though there must be misgivings from the health side and less importantly how ell they can perform. Preparation and game time within the squad is all very well and it is a pity that due to Covid-19 strictures there does not seem to be any warm-up games against external opposition. One could argue SL are probably in the same situation regarding match preparation. If I have made mistakes regarding the schedule's build-up, I apologise. Hopefully England can draw inspiration from their last tour of Sri Lanka.
