The 21-year-old suspects she picked up the virus during a routine shopping trip in April and took two months to make a full recovery
Sarah Glenn, the England leg-spinner, has sent a warning to fellow sportspeople after opening up about her battle with a suspected bout of Covid-19 earlier in the year.
The 21-year-old, who has since taken an antibody test to confirm she had the disease, believes she became infected during a weekly shopping trip in the Derbyshire village where she resides with her parents, in April.
She suffered symptoms for nearly two months before making a full recovery and starring for England in their 5-0 T20 international series win over West Indies.
Glenn, whose seven wickets in that series saw her named the Professional Cricketers' Association women's player of the year earlier this month, has documented her experience and hopes the ordeal can act as a warning to young people.
"I had to get out of the house one day and we needed a food shop so I offered," she told The Daily Telegraph.
"I came across this bloke who bumped into me and laughed. I think he was drunk. Me and the lady at the till were in shock.
"I felt really uncomfortable. It was my first and only shopping experience in lockdown and it was awful. He bumped into me again, so I walked out.

"I came home so angry. I said to my parents, ‘If I get ill next week I’m going to be fuming’. And there I was next week in bed. It was not great."
The Central Sparks spinner added: "It really opened my eyes and I start to get angry when young people say, ‘oh we will be fine’. No.
"I’m a fit young athlete and I was a bit worried. I had a couple of bad nights so I get annoyed by that. I did not realise how much it affected your lungs and it took me a long time to get over it."
The ECB conducted tests on 1,500 individuals across the three bio-secure international cricket bubbles located in Manchester, Southampton and Derby - where the women's team were stationed.
Glenn is currently self-isolating in Adelaide ahead of her debut in the Women's Big Bash League for Perth Scorchers.
