England name Under-19 World Cup squad full of familiar names

The squad is set to be captained by Ben McKinney, the Durham batter who featured in last season's County Championship and began the campaign with a pre-season hundred for the first team

England have named a squad for the Men's Under-19 World Cup full of familiar names.

Farhan Ahmed is the 15-year-old brother of England leg-spinner Rehan, Luc Benkenstein is the son of Gloucestershire head coach Dale, Haydon Mustard is the son of former England wicketkeeper Phil, and Jaydn Denly is the nephew of former England batter Joe.

Charlie Allison, who impressed for Essex during last season's One-Day Cup, is the younger brother of Essex seamer Ben; his selection comes more than a decade after he went viral for his batting abilities as a six-year-old. A YouTube video from the time has more than 283,000 views.

He is one of several players included with senior experience already under their belt, with the squad is set to be captained by Ben McKinney, the Durham batter who featured in last season's County Championship and began the campaign with a pre-season hundred for the first team.

Denly, Benkenstein, Hamza Shaikh, Noah Thain, Dominic Kelly, Tazeem Ali and Eddie Jack have also played in the 50-over competition.

England have been drawn alongside South Africa, West Indies and Scotland in their group for the tournament.
