Meanwhile, left-arm seamer Jack Campbell has signed a new contract with the county
Durham have signed former Gloucestershire off-spinner George Drissell after he impressed the county in second-team cricket in 2021.
Drissell has taken eight first-class wickets to date, while he also played five games for Somerset in last season’s Royal London Cup.
He was released by Gloucestershire at the end of the 2020 summer, during which opportunities were restricted by the pandemic-enforced delay to the start of the campaign.
He said: “I have already seen what the club is about and it makes me really excited for next season and going forward.”
Marcus North, the county’s director of cricket, added: “He impressed everyone on and off the field when playing for the second XI last summer and presents us with a skill set that gives us further options and depth within our squad.”
Meanwhile, left-arm seamer Jack Campbell has signed a new contract with the county. He has been on a rookie deal for the last two years, with this the first time he has agreed professional terms.
Campbell played five times in the Royal London Cup as Durham reached the final at Trent Bridge, only to be defeated by Glamorgan. He made his County Championship debut in 2019 against Leicestershire.
He said: “I’m really excited to have signed a new contract with Durham and to continue playing for a great club, with a great group of lads. I can’t wait to get back to training this winter and start preparing for a big season next summer.”
