Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews recalled to Sri Lanka Test squad for New Zealand series

Akila Dananjaya returns after his ban while Dilruwan Perera is also recalled after missing the South Africa series. Milinda Siriwardana is among those to miss out entirely

Sri Lanka have reselected Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews in their initial Test squad for the series against New Zealand.

The 22-strong group, which will be downsized to 15, also includes Akila Dananjaya for the first time since he returned from his ban for an illegal bowling action.

Dilruwan Perera missed the series win in South Africa but is among those to return while Danushka Gunathilaka and Lahiru Kumara are also back in the fold.

Shehan Jayasuriya and Asitha Fernando are the uncapped members of the squad but Milinda Siriwardana, Kaushal Silva and Mohamed Shiraz miss out.

This is the first squad selected by the newly revamped interim selection committee, chaired by Ashantha de Mel and including Vinothen John and Chaminda Mendis which this week were put in place for the next 12 months.

In the latest round of matches in the Test Championship, Sri Lanka host New Zealand in two Tests in Galle and Colombo starting on August 14 and 22.
