Malan was announced as a White Rose player on Monday, having signed a four-year deal at Headingley
Dawid Malan made the decision to leave Middlesex for Yorkshire with the aim of winning trophies.
Malan was announced as a White Rose player on Monday, having signed a four-year deal at Headingley.
The England international had plenty of time remaining on his Middlesex contract but still sought a move.
"I just needed a fresh challenge," he told the Daily Mail.
"I’ve been captain of Middlesex for two years, and I’ve been banging my head against a wall for a wee while. I didn’t really enjoy the cricket as much as I’d have liked to."

Dawid Malan has joined Yorkshire from Middlesex
Middlesex failed to win promotion from Division Two of the County Championship in 2019 and struggled once again in the T20 Blast.
They reached the knockout phase of the Royal London One-Day Cup before losing at home to Lancashire.
"When I spoke to them, Yorkshire seemed like a team that really want to win trophies, and that’s the ambition. I don’t want to finish my career just plodding along in county cricket," Malan said.
"I want to be somewhere that really wants to challenge to win stuff.
"I was wanting things to move in the right direction. That was it. It frustrated me that I didn’t really know what was going on [at Middlesex], or what the plans were and so on."
