Chris Lynn has admitted he was disappointed by the way in which he found out he had not been included in Australia’s T20 squad for their series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The 29-year-old batsman became aware through social media that he would not be part of the party for the games, which come a year before Australia will host the T20 World Cup.

The Brisbane Heat batsman, who has become a much-coveted commodity in T20 cricket all over the world, told the Sydney Morning Herald: “The thing I was disappointed about was the lack of communication. Not even a phone call. I found out on social media.

“That’s the world we live in these days. But it is what it is. I kind of felt it was coming.”

He has not represented Australia for almost a year and, while he has dominated in the Big Bash for some years, he has never truly found his best form on the international stage. In 20 innings for his country, he has never passed 44.

Lynn also confirmed that he has not spoken to Cricket Australia chief selector Trevor Hohns about his absence.

“I haven’t spoken to him. I find it’s something that’s ongoing and getting worse in Australian cricket – that lack of communication,” he explained.

“I’m not just talking about my case. There are plenty of other scenarios where players feel a bit lost on where they stand. It's disappointing.”

Chris Green played a key role in Guyana Amazon Warriors' run to the CPL final

In a squad captained by Aaron Finch, Alex Carey, Glenn Maxwell, Ben McDermott, Steve Smith, Ashton Turner and David Warner have been selected ahead of Lynn as batting options.

Lynn was, however, picked up by former Australia coach Darren Lehmann in the draft for the inaugural edition of The Hundred, where he will play for Northern Superchargers.

He is not the only T20 specialist to miss out on selection; Chris Green, the off-spinning allrounder who has built himself a nomadic career in franchise competitions around the world, has impressed in the last 18 months.

He was part of the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad that put together 11 straight victories in the Caribbean Premier League, only to lose out in the final against Barbados Tridents.

He told ESPNCricinfo that he has spoken to the selectors about his omission.

“[They said] if you keep putting in performances you will push your case, but I'm fully aware that Zampa and Agar have been doing a good job and Nathan Lyon has been bowling well in one-day cricket as well,” he said.

“I sort of see of my role as very different to those three so I have to keep growing my game and if I can contribute with the bat more consistently I think that will enhance my chances in the future.”
