Glamorgan batsman Kiran Carlson has agreed to remain at the club until at least the end of the 2022 season.

The 21-year-old was already contracted until the end of the year but has committed his future to the Sophia Gardens side for another 24 months.

Carlson made nine first-team outings last term, scoring 173 runs across all formats as his cricketing education continued.

Since his debut in the summer of 2016, Carlson has made 30 first-class appearances and 17 outings in List A and T20 cricket.

"I’m really excited to re-sign for Glamorgan," he said.

"I’ve loved playing here, the dressing room environment we have is amazing and it’s a really fun place to come and play cricket.

"I’m also excited to get stuck in again and work with Matt and the staff, and do what I can to kick on and secure a place in a strong batting unit."

Director of cricket Mark Wallace said: "Kiran is one of our pathway products, and he’s a really exciting young talent so we’re delighted to have him signed up for another two years.

"We see a long term plan in Kiran, and we look forward to seeing him develop alongside his studies. He's absolutely got the ability to be a standout player in first-class cricket."
