Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh Test and T20 captain, has spoken of his delight after players agreed to return to cricket following a brief strike.

The allrounder had led the action of players across the country after 13 demands were submitted to the Bangladesh Cricket Board this week.

Issues regarding remuneration, gender balance and the leadership of the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh were all raised.

Furthermore, players also wanted a return to a franchise model for the Bangladesh Premier League, which the BCB took control of earlier this year after a dispute with owners.

President Nasmul Hassan had criticised the move but following talks with players on Wednesday the BCB backed down on several of the requests, which will now see the players resume their duties.

The third round of the National Cricket League had been suspended but will now be played next Saturday, while Bangladesh's tour of India is back on with preparations due to start from October 25.

"Today we are happy," said Shakib. "We can say how satisfied we are when these assurances will be implemented.

"Till now, I am happy. The board promised to resolve all the matters one by one very soon. I hope they will do it in the quickest possible time.

"We raised those two demands just now and the board needs time to discuss it. I am okay with it for the time being. We are joining the national camp from October 25."

Hassan added: "We have agreed to meet up most of their demands

"They had sent 11 demands where BCB had nothing to do with the CWAB related demand while we have decided to agree on the remaining demands apart from the one where it was stated that players will be allowed to play in more than two franchise-based tournaments.

"I don't think there are many players who are offered more than two franchise-based tournaments and we will take the decision regarding participation of them in the franchise-based cricket on a case-to-case basis."
