The 38-year-old will work with Rajasthan Royals and in The Hundred in 2020 despite taking up the position as Justin Langer's No.2
Birmingham Phoenix expect Andrew McDonald to coach them during The Hundred in 2020 despite taking up a role as Australia's new assistant.
The Edgbaston-based side have held talks with the 38-year-old, after he was confirmed as Justin Langer's No.2, to clarify his plans.
Though McDonald has stood down from his position with Victoria and 2018-19 Big Bash League winners Melbourne Renegades, he is expected to fulfil his other outstanding commitments.
That means he will lead Indian Premier League side Rajasthan Royals, with whom he signed a three-year deal last week, and Phoenix, next year, alongside his new role with Australia.
THE HUNDRED HUB
The T20 World Cup hosts have a relatively modest schedule during the opening part of 2020, with matches against New Zealand, India and South Africa in the first three months of the year.
They then travel to England for three T20Is and three one-day internationals, a tour which concludes the day before The Hundred is scheduled to start on July 17.
Following an international career which lasted just four Tests, McDonald has carved out a reputation as one of the best coaches on the circuit.
In 2019, he led Victoria to the Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup double, as well as the Renegades to Big Bash success.
