West Indies seamer Alzarri Joseph left the field during the afternoon session of the second day of the second Test at Emirates Old Trafford after suffering an injury during his 24th over.

Joseph, the pick of the tourists’ seamers in the game thus far, was just a single ball into his over when he pulled up and walked off the field.

Kraigg Brathwaite completed the over in his absence, but the news will be a concern to West Indies, who have found the going tough in the opening two days in Manchester.

Shannon Gabriel left the field with a muscular issue at a similar time on Thursday and was off the field again briefly on Friday afternoon.

The mounting injuries will pose a challenge to captain Jason Holder and head coach Phil Simmons, especially with another Test to come almost immediately after the conclusion of this second match.
