Two fresh faces are guaranteed to make a Lord’s appearance in this year’s Voneus Village Cup final after two upsets in the regional finals.

Champions Milford Hall's defence ended in their first fixture of the tournament as they were beaten by Pelsall in the West Midlands regional final, while Leeds & Broomfield, who were losing finalists at the Home of Cricket in September, lost to Chestfield in the equivalent fixture for Kent.

Milford Hall were playing their first match of the tournament after a mixture of byes and concessions meant they made it straight through the final round before the goes national.

Pelsall posted 207-6 after being put into bat by Milford Hall. Opener Ahsan Akbar top scored with 103, while Raul Ram scored 80 at more than a run a ball. Aaron Afford, Man of the Match in last year's final, was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 8-5-12-3.

In reply, Milford Hall fell 88 runs short despite the best efforts of captain Stuart Phazey, who top scored with 30 from 28 balls. Jamie Holmes (7.3-0-19-3) cleaned up the tail to seal the upset as the visitors were bowled out for 119 in 32.3 overs.

In Kent, home side Chestfield elected to bat after winning the toss – a decision that didn't seem so clever when Ben Marsh was bowled second ball of the innings by George Sturges.

However, Ben Burgess (119) and Harry Roberts (74) then proceeded to put on 191 for the second wicket as the hosts climbed to 236-7 from their 40 overs. Sturges ended up with figures of 3-33 from his 8 overs.

James Mitchinson (37) recorded the highest score in Leeds & Broomfield’s chase, with Oliver Jordan-Smith claiming 4-19 as the visitors were bowled out for 158.

Pelsall will now host Herefordshire & Powys group winners Aston Ingham, while Chestfield will travel to Cambridgeshire & Norfolk champions Foxton Granta.
