The Mumbai Indians quick felt the effects of the wet outfield during the defeat to Delhi Capitals but is embracing the task at hand
Mumbai Indians seamer Trent Boult has complained about the impact of dew in this season's Indian Premier League.
Though not present at all of the matches during the 14th edition of the competition, which is so far being played in Chennai and Mumbai, wet outfields have been evident.
Delhi Capitals benefitted from batting second during the six-wicket victory over the defending champions, chasing down 138 to win with six wickets in hand and five balls remaining.
Though Boult returned figures of 0-23 from his four-over allocation, Jasprit Bumrah and legspinner Rahul Chahar struggled for control.
"It is definitely tricky when the ball gets wet like that," said the New Zealand international. "The other night was the worst it has been in terms of dew.
"In terms of being a foreign player, it is something we are not used to in New Zealand, but it is part and parcel here, as bowlers you need to be able to execute some kind of deliveries so that is a good challenge.
"Ideally, you want to see an even contest between bat and ball."
But despite the challenging conditions which make gripping the ball tough and favour the side chasing, Boult - who will lead the Kiwis attack during the T20 World Cup in India later in the year - is embracing the relatively alien surroundings.
"From a personal point of view, I just swing the ball around, but the surface and conditions here have not allowed that," he added.
"But, that's the beauty of coming to this part of the world, the challenge becomes to adapt to these kinds of conditions.
"I am enjoying the challenge, it has been great bowling with Bumrah and seeing how he operates. Yeah, it is a great challenge and I am looking to just improve my game."
