Mumbai: Sunrisers Hyderabad 200-5, Mumbai Indians 201-2 - Mumbai Indians won by eight wickets

Cameron Green's maiden T20 century smashed Mumbai Indians to an eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Australian allrounder's knock of 100 off 47 balls saw Mumbai comfortably chase a target of 201 and move into fourth position.

Attention now turns to the clash between Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bangalore where a victory for RCB would deny the Indians a spot in the knockout stages.

Rohit Sharma set his team on course for victory with 56 runs off 37 balls while in the first innings, Akash Madhwal was a thorn in Sunrisers' side, taking 4 for 37.

In their final match of the 2023 IPL, Sunrisers belatedly found a formula which worked for them, with openers Vivrant Sharma (69 off 47) and Mayank Agarwal (83 off 46) putting them on track for a 220-plus total.

However, as soon as they fell to Madhwal, Sunrisers were unable to get any batters into a rhythm and the runs began to dry up.

Chris Jordan removed Glenn Phillips cheaply while Madhwal saw off Heinrich Klaasen and Harry Brook as the Sunrisers scrambled to 200 runs.

In response, the early wicket of Ishan Kishan gave Sunrisers hope but the partnership of Rohit and Green took the game away from them.

Sunrisers impact sub Kartik Tyagi did not have the desired effect. The fast bowler dropped Green twice early on - one a difficult caught and bowled opportunity while the other was a drive to cover that he couldn't keep hold of at his midriff - while his 2.5 overs cost 41 runs. His afternoon, and that of his side, was summed up when he was removed from the attack after bowling two waist-high no balls.

Rohit fell to a brilliant catch from Mayank Dagar off the bowling of Nitish Kumar but the wicket did not disturb Mumbai's run rate with Suryakumar Yadav (25 off 16) combining with Green to see the chase home.
