Franchises were allowed to retain up to eight squad members ahead of the 2022 player draft on Sunday, December 12
Rashid Khan and Liam Livingstone are among the retained players ahead of the 2022 Pakistan Super League draft.
The Afghanistan international, who was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the 2022 Indian Premier League draft, was retained by Lahore Qalandars while England allrounder Livingstone will once again line up for Peshawar Zalmi.
The six teams were allowed to keep a maximum of eight players from their 2021 roster, with the remainder of their 18-player squads selected in the draft on Sunday, December 12.
Defending champions Multan Sultans chose to keep seven players, with Mohammad Rizwan, Rilee Rossouw (both platinum), Sohaib Maqsood, Imran Tahir (both diamond), Khushdil Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani and Shan Masood (all gold) all retained.
Staying with Livingstone (platinum) at Peshawar Zalmi are fellow Englishmen Saqib Mahmood (gold) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (silver) alongside Wahab Riaz (platinum), Shoaib Malik, Sherfane Rutherford, Haider Ali (all diamond), and Hussain Talat (gold).

Last season’s leading run-scorer Babar Azam (platinum) has unsurprisingly been retained by Karachi Kings where he will be joined by Imad Wasim (platinum), ICC number one-ranked T20I allrounder Mohammad Nabi, Mohammad Amir (diamond), Englishman Joe Clarke, Sharjeel Khan, Aamer Yamin (all gold) and Mohammad Ilyas (silver).
Two-time winners Islamabad United have retained Asif Ali, Hasan Ali (platinum), Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan (diamond), Mohammad Wasim Jr (gold) alongside overseas duo Alex Hales (gold) and Paul Stirling (silver). The Islamabad franchise had earlier traded Iftikhar Ahmed for Quetta Gladiators batter Azam Khan (gold).
Alongside Ahmed (diamond), the Gladiators also received James Vince (platinum) and Shahid Afridi (gold) from Multan Sultans. The trio will play alongside Sarfaraz Ahmed (platinum), Mohammad Nawaz (diamond), Mohammad Hasnain and Naseem Shah (both gold) in 2022.
At Lahore Qalandars, Rashid Khan (platinum) will be reunited with Shaheen Shah Afridi (platinum), David Wiese, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hafeez (all diamond), Sohail Akhtar, Zeeshan Ashraf and Ahmed Daniyal (all silver).
Attention will now turn to Sunday’s draft for which over 425 players from over 32 countries have reportedly registered their interest. Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi can each purchase 10 players in the draft while Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators, both of whom retained seven individuals, can select 11.
