Usama Mir has become the first concussion substitute in a men's 50-over World Cup match after replacing Shadab Khan for Pakistan.
Shadab banged his head on the turf while attempting to run out Temba Bavuma in the first over of South Africa's run-chase on Friday.
He ran from mid-on to field a ball knocked into the legside by Bavuma, the returning South African captain, and shied at the stumps, landing awkwardly primarily on his shoulder but also knocking his head.
The leg-spinner remained on the ground for a while, with a stretcher wheeled out at one stage, although he was ultimately able to leave the field unaided, albeit gingerly.

It later looked as though he might come back on, as he limbered up on the boundary edge, but was eventually replaced by Mir.
Shadab had earlier made 43 with the bat for Pakistan. Mir, meanwhile, was immediately into the action, trapping Rassie van der Dussen in front with the fifth delivery of his spell.
