Richard Illingworth and Richard Kettleborough have been named as umpires for the World Cup final.

Neither were able to officiate in the final four years ago, with England involved against New Zealand in 2019.

But Kettleborough was in the middle in 2015 alongside Kumar Dharmasena for Australia's fifth 50-over world title, when they beat New Zealand at the MCG.

For Illingworth, this will be a first World Cup final as an umpire, but he was the last man out for England in the 1992 defeat by Pakistan during his playing days.

The English pair were promoted to the ICC's international list on the same day in 2009, and both were on the field for the semi-finals: Illingworth overseeing India's win over New Zealand, Kettleborough standing in Australia's victory against South Africa.

Joel Wilson has been appointed third umpire, while Chris Gafffaney is fourth umpire and Andy Pycroft the match referee.

A top appointment by ICC to allow 2 of the very best officials umpire the top game in this format. Both are calm and calculated with their decision making with an easy going relationship with both teams due to their experience. Even with a raucous partizan crowd, I expect nothing but the best correct decisions from both men. The best is necessary for the biggest game. In this, this is so!
