Kingstown: Bangladesh 159-5, Netherlands 134-8  - Bangladesh won by 25 runs

Bangladesh have one foot in the Super 8s of the Men's T20 World Cup after a comfortable 25-run win over the Netherlands.

Shakib Al Hasan returned to batting form with an unbeaten 64 to help Bangladesh to 159 for 5.

The Dutch built a solid platform on the chase but lost a cluster of wickets saw them fall short.

While both nations remain in the battle to progress to the next phase, Sri Lanka are out after two defeats and an abandonment from their three matches.

After being inserted, The Tigers scored 159 for 5 off their 20 overs, thanks largely to an unbeaten 64 off 46 from Shakib and 35 off 26 from opener Tanzid Hasan.

They recovered well from an early double strike from Aryan Dutt (2 for 17), brought in to combat the left-handers, who had Najmul Hossain Shanto (1) reverse sweeping to first slip and Litton Das (1) exceptionally caught by Sybrand Engelbrecht in the deep.

The impressive Paul van Meekeren (2 for 15) and Tim Pringle (1 for 26) were the other Dutch wicket-takers while Bangladesh took a liking to Logan van Beek who conceded 43 in an expressive wicketless spell.

In reply, both Netherlands openers fell in the powerplay with Michael Levitt (18) falling to Taskin Ahmed and Max O'Dowd (12) well caught and bowled by Tanzim Hasan to leave them at 36 for 2 after six overs.

The promising partnership worth 37 between Vikramjit Singh (26) and Engelbrecht (33) was broken when the former was stumped off the bowling of Mahmudullah.

Captain Scott Edwards came to the crease and formed another important stand of 42 which was broken when Engelbrecht was caught off the bowling of Rishad Hossain who struck again just two balls later to remove Bas de Leede for a duck.

The Netherlands' misery was compounded when captain Edwards (25) and van Beek (2) were both dismissed. The Dutch had lost four wickets for just six runs and still needed 43 more to win.

Mustafizur Rahman's (1-12) last over went for just three to all but secure the victory for Bangladesh before the final over.
