Dushmantha Chameera out of Sri Lanka's key clash with Netherlands

A calf injury could keep the seamer out of the remainder of the men's T20 World Cup in Australia after Chameera pulled up in the victory over United Arab Emirates

Dushmantha Chameera will miss Sri Lanka's do-or-die men's T20 World Cup match against Netherlands.

The 30-year-old limped out of the 79-run victory over United Arab Emirates in Geelong with one delivery of his four overs remaining. He had earlier taken 3 for 15.

ESPNCricinfo understand Chameera sustained a recurrence of the calf problem that kept him out of the Asia Cup.

Furthermore, Cricbuzz believe the pace bowler will not feature again during the tournament, regardless of Sri Lanka's success in qualifying for the latter stages.

A senior SL Cricket official told NewsWire: "He will undergo a scan tomorrow morning to ascertain his injury, it's not looking good, he might miss the rest of the tournament"

With everything pointing towards Chameera playing no further part in Australia, the news is a major blow to the hopes the 2014 champions had of reaching the Super 12s.

They face the Dutch on Thursday (October 20) knowing victory will see them progress, but anything less sees them requiring favours from elsewhere.

Sri Lanka are also sweating over the fitness of Danushka Gunathilaka and Pramod Madushan, who are due to have scans on respective hamstring injuries.

While Gunathilaka didn't feature against UAE, following his Namibia duck, Madushan has played in both round one matches taking three wickets.

Head coach Chris Silverwood only made a change to his squad over the weekend, when Binura Fernando replaced Dilshan Madushanka.
