Jamie Overton is set to miss out on England's Test squad for the series against South Africa and a stint in The Hundred through injury.

Overton picked up hand and foot problems during Surrey's LV= Insurance County Championship clash against Warwickshire.

He will not be named in the England party when it is announced on Tuesday, with the Evening Standard suggesting the bowler will miss as many as six weeks of action.

Paul Walter, the Essex allrounder, has been called up by Manchester Originals to plug the hole in their squad created by Overton's knock.

It is a major blow for the quick, who made an excellent first impression at international level, albeit primarily with the bat, against New Zealand at Headingley in June.

Surrey will hope he can recover in time for their final three matches of the Championship campaign - and help the county to the title.

The Three Feathers are not in action again in first-class cricket until September 12.
