Leicestershire have announced that batsman Paul Horton has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.
The 35-year-old club captain has scored 11,426 first-class runs in his career to date including 23 centuries and 64 fifties.
He has scored 462 County Championship runs at 35.53 this summer.
Horton said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Leicestershire County Cricket Club, and I’m delighted to sign a new deal here. I’ve really enjoyed this season, and I’m looking forward to the remainder of the campaign as we’ve been playing some really solid red ball cricket.”
Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “It’s great news that Horts [Paul Horton] has signed for another two years here. He has been a key performer in our side in both red and white ball cricket.
“Horts’ performances have been solid and he is a top-class leader. He has played an important role in a number of successful run chases, as well as setting the tone in the first innings of [Specsavers County] Championship games.
“His century in the first 50-over game at Northants was excellent too, giving us a good start in that particular competition. We’re delighted that Horts has committed his future to us for the next two years.”
