The Leicestershire captain was hit by the ball at first slip during the 27th over on April 23 as his side faced Somerset in the County Championship
Leicestershire were forced to use a concussion substitute during their County Championship clash against Somerset, with Rishi Patel replacing Colin Ackermann on April 23.
Ackermann, who captains Leicestershire, was hit by the ball at first slip from a Callum Parkinson delivery during the 27th over of day two.
Under ECB regulations, a like-for-like replacement can both bat and bowl in the game once approved by the referee in cases of head injuries.
With Ackermann ruled out, the request for Patel, who was named in Leicestershire’s 13-man squad, to come in a concussion replacement was approved by match referee, James Whitaker. Vice-captain Parkinson will lead the side in his absence.

Ackermann has returned home to rest and is being monitored by Leicestershire’s medical team.
Concussion substitutes were first introduced to the County Championship ahead of the 2018 season. Lancashire’s Danny Lamb was the first replacement used in English first-class cricket, coming in for Joe Mennie against Worcestershire in June 2018.
