The son for the iconic England allrounder scored 116 runs off 156 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes, for Lancashire’s Second XI
Rocky Flintoff, son of former England international Andrew, has become the third youngest centurion in the Second XI Championship.
Aged 16 years and 16 days old, he scored 116 runs off 156 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes, for Lancashire Warwickshire at Edgbaston – his maiden century in the competition.
The only players to reach three figures at a younger age are Amir Khan, who was 15 years and 293 days when he scored a century for Warwickshire against Lancashire in July 2021, and Dan Lawrence (16 years and four days) versus against Middlesex eight years earlier.
As a result, he has overtaken his dad as the record-holder for Lancashire seconds. Andrew Flintoff was 16 years and 266 days when he scored his first century in 1994.
Rocky Flintoff (CricketArchive profile) made his Second XI debut on April 9 and made an unbeaten fifty off 78 balls against Durham last week.
At Edgbaston, he not only enjoyed a century partnership with England international Saqib Mahmood but also put on 39 while batting with older brother Corey.
He was eventually caught off the bowling of Jake Lintott in the 84th over, with Lancashire declaring on 404 for 8 shortly after.
