I absolutely disagree with David Baxter’s comments re James Anderson. Jimmy was in no position of authority to impede the plans of Stokes or McCullum. More positively now I do hope he will devote his full time effort to assist Lancashire’s return to the top flight, where they surely belong. It is reported that his remarkable training routine could enable bowling for another season or two, with additional spectators!

I had a great deal of sympathy with McCullum / Stokes last year - they wanted to bring on the younger bowlers but had Jimmy blocking the way. Jimmy was being far too selfish in insisting he stays and should have bowed out respectfully and accepted someone else deserved a go. The same situation is now arising in Lancashire. Please Jimmy nothing lasts forever.
