Colin Munro, Chris Jordan and Fakhar Zaman were among the big-name signings during the 2022 Pakistan Super League player draft.
62 players from nine countries were selected during Sunday’s ceremony as the six teams built their 18-player squads for PSL7.
Munro and Jordan were picked up as platinum signings by Islamabad United and Karachi Kings, respectively, while Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai (Peshawar Zalmi) and Jason Roy (Quetta Gladiators) were also selected in the most expensive category. Lahore Qalandars, meanwhile, opted to re-select Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman after leaving the 31-year-old off their retained list on December 10.
However, the surprise selection was Tim David, with the Singapore international earning a platinum contract with Multan Sultans as the defending champions deployed their wildcard early in on proceedings.
Marchant de Lange, Lewis Gregory, Odean Smith and James Faulker were the other big winners, picking up diamond contracts with Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators, respectively.

39 Pakistani players earned contracts, most notably national team spinner Usman Qadir (formerly of Multan Sultans) and veteran batter Kamran Akmal who were both picked up by Lahore Qalandars, while England, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Zimbabwe, South Africa and West Indies were all represented among the overseas signings.
England led the way with nine players, including Phil Salt and Harry Brook - who earned gold contracts with Lahore Qalandars - and veteran T20 allrounder Samit Patel, who was picked up as a supplementary signing by the same franchise.
Other notable overseas signings include Somerset duo Lewis Gregory and Tom Abell (both Karachi Kings); Zimbabwe international and PSL6 winner Blessing Muzarabani (Multan Sultans); veteran Australian allrounder Ben Cutting (Peshawar Zalmi); and Afghanistan internationals Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Naveen-ul-Haq, who were selected by Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators, respectively.
23-year-old South Africa-born allrounder Dean Foxcroft joined David in the surprise signing category, picking up a silver contract with Lahore Qalandars. A former South Africa Under-19 international, Foxcroft has 18 Super Smash appearances to his name for Central Districts and Otago Sparks, scoring 539 at a strike rate of 129.56.
PSL7 gets underway on January 27, 2022 when Karachi Kings take on defending champions Multan Sultans in Karachi.
