Movement That Inspires play of the day

Ben Geddes last represented Surrey in the T20 Blast three years ago when he played against Kent at the Oval.

It was remarkable, therefore, when he shuffled across the crease to smash Italian international Grant Stewart for a huge six.

The ball was also adjudged to be a no ball so it added eight valuable runs to his side's total.

It was also the penultimate ball of the innings and took Surrey over a hundred with the 22-year-old finishing on an unbeaten seven off three balls.

Take The Lead, Drive Electric moment of the day

This clash was the first time this season that Chris Jordan has appeared for his Surrey side.

The captain has missed the bulk of the T20 Blast as he was at the T20 World Cup with England and the crowd was excited to see him back in Surrey colours.

Reece Topley joined his skipper in returned to the side after England made it to the World Cup semi-final.

Jordan displayed his death-bowling specialties as he mastered the final over, conceding just 11 to win by five runs.

Crowd's patience rewarded

After plenty of delays due to rain, there was finally some cricket at the Kia Oval when a ten-over-a-side game started two hours and 35 minutes after the scheduled start of play.

For much of the afternoon, it looked to be one of those frustrating days with the covers being brought on and taken off but no cricket.

This included one occasion when the rain started again just a minute before the players were about to step out onto the field.

It would have been understandable if some of the crowd had given up on any chance of seeing some cricket but thankfully, plenty stayed.

Those who did stay were rewarded with an entertaining rain-shortened game with 103 runs scored in the first innings runs scored on what turned out to be a pleasant evening in South London.
