In terms of a replacement for Vince, Bell-Drummond sits at number 188 in the T20 Player Index, not too far below Vince at number 153.
James Vince played in two matches for the Auckland Aces
"I'm delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the Auckland Aces," Bell-Drummond said.
"It's a huge honour and I cannot wait to experience the Super Smash!"
Auckland Aces head coach Mark O’Donnell added: "With none of our Black Caps available in the latter part of the Super Smash, we were looking for an experienced T20 player.
"We're sure Daniel will add to the team on an off the pitch – he’s a top guy as well as a really good player."
