Yuvraj Singh has no immediate plans to call time on his playing career, and he says he will keep on batting for as long as he is enjoying the game.
Yuvraj is 37 and has not played an international game for India since June 2017 in the Caribbean, but he proved on Sunday that he still has the class to make a major impact at the highest level, crashing a 35-ball 53 against Delhi Capitals in the IPL. It was his first half-century for nearly two years.
Speaking after the game, which his Mumbai Indians side ultimately lost, the veteran batsman insisted he still has plenty to give.
“When the time comes, I will be the first one to hang my boots,” he said. “The last two years, have been up and down and I could not decide on what to do.”
"Last two years have been up and down. [I] couldn't decide what I wanted to do but the main thing was [remembering] why I played the game when I started playing the game.
"I played the game because I enjoyed playing cricket. That time, I was not playing for India. I was playing for the under 14s, under 16s. So till the time I enjoy playing cricket, I will play."
Yuvraj revealed that conversations with Sachin Tendulkar had helped to settle his mind.
"I spoke to Sachin as well and he has gone through such a time when he was 37-38-39. Talking to him makes things easier for me," he said.
