Mumbai: Rajasthan Royals 212-7, Mumbai Indians 214-4 - Mumbai Indians win by six wickets

Tim David smashed five sixes in 14 balls as Mumbai Indians chased down 213 to beat Rajasthan Royals in an IPL thriller.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had earlier struck 16 fours and eight sixes in a sparkling century, finishing with 124 in 62 balls.

But that knock, which drove Royals to a huge total of 212 for 7, was reeled in by MI, for whom there were terrific contributions throughout the middle order.

It didn't necessarily look likely when Rohit Sharma fell at the end of the second over, but Ishan Kishan (28), Cameron Green (44), Suryakumar Yadav (55), Tilak Varma (29*) and David (45*) all chipped in with superb cameos as Rajasthan lost after posting their tenth-highest IPL total.

For Mumbai, it was their fifth-highest total in the tournament's storied history and their third-highest when batting second.

It was a fitting contest to commemorate the thousandth IPL match, with Jason Holder the unfortunate man at the death, delivering three consecutive full tosses, all of which David dispatched for sixes.

Earlier, former India leggie Piyush Chawla had been Mumbai Indians' most successful bowler, picking up the key wicket of Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal three overs later, while there was also a wicket for Jofra Archer, who had earlier been hit for an enormous six by Jaiswal.

That was one of many eye-catching strokes in a remarkable innings, but he would ultimately be on the losing side in a thriller at the Wankhede.
