Scorecard

Rajasthan Royals inflicted some powerplay mayhem on Sunrisers Hyderabad on their way to a 61-run victory in Pune.

Chasing 210 was never going to be easy but Sunrisers imploded in the face of Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna, losing three wickets – Kane Williamson, Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran - and scoring just 14 runs in the opening six overs. Both players also bowled maidens during a hostile opening spell.

Yuzvendra Chahal then got in on the act, striking either side of drinks to remove opener Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad and reduce Sunrisers to 37 for 5 in the 11th over.

The remaining 9.4 overs, however, were productive, with Aiden Markram and Romario Shepherd putting on a 41-run sixth-wicket stand to avoid any unwanted records before Washington Sundar's smash and grab 40 (14 balls) continued the damage limitation.

Sunrisers closed on 149 for 7, with Markram top-scoring with 57 (41), while Krishna and Boult finished with figures of 2 for 16 and 2 for 23, respectively.

Earlier, a bright start from openers Jos Buttler and Yashavi Jaiswal set the tone for a strong performance from Rajasthan before skipper Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal took control, smashing 73 runs from 41 balls to carry their side to within sight of the 150-mark with five overs remaining.

Both players fell in the space of eight balls to reduce Rajasthan to 163 for 4 but it did little to stem the flow of runs.

Shimron Hetmyer blasted 30 runs from 12 balls as part of a 44-run stand with Riyan Parag to bring up the Royals' 200 before T Natarajan struck twice in the final over to give the Sunrisers faithful something to cheer. Rajasthan closed on 210 for 6, with Samson top-scoring on 55 (27).
