Jaydev Unadkat has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Indian Premier League after injuring his shoulder while bowling in the nets for Lucknow Super Giants.

However, the India fast bowler is expected to be fit for the World Test Championship final against Australia on June 7 at The Oval.

The injury caps a frustrating IPL campaign for Unadkat where he took no wickets in three matches, conceding 92 runs in the process.

It leaves LSG another bowler short with Mark Wood also struggling for fitness having not appeared for them since April 15. The England seamer is also confirmed to leave the tournament early to attend the birth of his second child.

Footage of the incident which led to Unadkat's injury, showing his trailing leg being caught on a rope that was holding up the nets, leading to him falling on his left elbow, has been shared on social media.

Shortly afterwards he was seen using his shirt as a sling while an ice pack was held against his shoulder.

Scans took place on Monday (May 1) and Lucknow have decided to withdraw him from the IPL. He will now rehabilitate in Bengaluru before travelling to England for the WTC final against Australia.

If he appears in the final, it would only be his third Test cap for India having had to wait 12 years between his first and second.

He was recalled to the Test team for December's tour of Bangladesh where he took three wickets at an average of 22.33.
